Foot amputation as a result of RA?

I have a very deformed right ankl as a result of rheumatoid arthritis. I have been referred to a doctor who specifically deals with ankle problems. He is not board-certified- should I be concerned about that? He ordered a CT scan on my ankle and when I took him the disk, he said I had not brought him an easy problem. He plans to share my CT and confer with some other doctors before giving me options. He did mention that amputation would have the quickest recovery time.No diabetes as far as I know.
